Rooted in Care, not markups.

Somewhere along the way, “all natural” became synonymous with “luxury.” And I don’t think that’s how it was ever supposed to be.

For a long time, I stood on the outside of that world. I spent time reading labels, wanting better for my skin and my home, but constantly running into the same wall, the price.

It felt like the message was clear…If you want clean ingredients, you have to pay more. If you want products that actually support your body instead of working against it, that’s a premium experience.

But here’s the thing. I’m not a luxury brand owner. I’m a mom. I’m a maker. I’m someone who has stood in the aisle doing the mental math, deciding what we could afford and what we couldn’t.

And I started Maker & Reader because the “affordable” options weren’t working the way they were supposed to…and the “better” options weren’t within reach. That gap? That’s where this business was born.

Natural shouldn’t mean expensive. Taking care of your skin shouldn’t feel like a privilege reserved for people with extra income. Having products in your home that feel safe, intentional, and thoughtfully made shouldn’t be something you have to save up for like a splurge.

Gifting should feel generous, not stressful. The way we show up for the people we love, the teachers who pour into our kids, the friends who hold us together on hard days, that matters. And those moments shouldn’t come with a price tag that makes you hesitate or scale back what you want to give. Thoughtful, high-quality gifts should be within reach, not something reserved for special budgets or rare occasions. Being able to offer something meaningful, something made with care, shouldn’t feel like a luxury.

It should feel natural. It should be normal. It should be accessible.

Because the truth is, the ingredients themselves aren’t the problem. Nature isn’t expensive. Care isn’t expensive.

What is expensive is branding, middlemen, markups, and the idea that “clean” needs to be elevated to feel valuable.

At Maker & Reader, I’m not interested in playing that game.

I price my products with a few things in mind: The real cost of ingredients and materials. The time and care it takes to make them. And, most importantly, the people who are actually buying them

Not a trend. Not a luxury standard. Real people. People like me, who want better, but also have bills, kids, responsibilities, and real life happening.

That means you’re not paying for inflated branding. You’re not paying for a “wellness status symbol.” You’re paying for something made with intention, integrity, and ingredients you can trust.

This isn’t about undervaluing my products and work, it is about reframing the meaning of value.

Affordable doesn’t mean cheap. It means accessible. It means more people can build small, meaningful rituals into their everyday lives. Whether that’s a roll-on before a stressful moment, a balm for tired hands, or a scent that makes a space feel like home.

Care should be something you can reach for without hesitation. Not something you second guess at checkout.

Maker & Reader was never meant to be exclusive. It was meant to be real. It was meant to meet people where they are. It was meant to bring natural, thoughtful products back into everyday life, where they belong.

Because taking care of yourself and your home shouldn’t feel out of reach. It should feel like something you can come back to, again and again.

Without the barrier. Without the markup.
Without the message that it’s not for you.

It is for you. It is for everyone. And it always has been.

Rooted in care. Always.
